Running Articulate products on a Mac

by admin on March 7, 2007

I see a request or forum post every once in awhile that asks for support for Apple’s Mac platform. One way that you can run Articulate Presenter, Quizmaker, and Engage on a Mac is to use a virtualization product like VMWare’s new product Fusion, which allows you to run a Windows Operating system in a virtual machine inside of a Mac. You can then install any Articulate product (or any Windows based product for that matter), on a Mac.

Basically there are two products on the market right now that I know of that support running virtual machines on a Mac.

VMWare’s Fusion

  • I use and love their other product VMWare Workstation
  • I believe since it is still in Beta it is free to use

  • Have heard great things about the tool from other Articulate users

Also, if you are interested, check out this topic on Yahoo the other day about the two products.

So if you are dying to run Articulate’s products on a Mac, check out VMWare’s Fusion or Parallels.

Thanks Scott,

If you haven’t done so, I would recommend also posting your suggestion here:

That feature request form sends the request to me, and other project management and makes your request visible to all.

Ditto here. I just purchased a MacBook Pro and have sworn off of Microsoft products entirely. I will put my five windows desktops and one windows tablet on ebay this weekend. I am through with microsoft!! Vista was the last straw.

So, now that I am a mac fanatic, I would love to have an articulate presenter for Mac. I am not going to run parallels or other virtual machine, because I do not want to corrupt this fine piece of engineering with anything that has to do with microsoft or windows.

Long live Steve Jobs!

I applaud you Andrew. I agree Vista truely sucks. It is Windows Millennium all over again. Best of luck on your conversion.

How much are you selling your tablet for??? :-)

Please Make a Mac version…… please – will purchase 12 copies asap (my department runs all Macs)

Ha, Jared, thanks for the suggestion. I see that you submitted a feature request about this, and guessing that is you who just tweeted about it as well?

It is definitely something we get a lot of requests for.

It rocks on parallels. I’d recommend using the latest version of parallels.

Tip :- Install articulate on bootcamp and then point your parallels vm installation to your bootcamp drive instead of creating a new virtual drive.

I get using a “Parallels” software to use “Articulate”, but then do I need to re-purchase Powerpoint for a PC (I own it for Mac now) to run Articulate?

Hi Sue,

Yeah, I believe so. Because you will have to be running the Windows version of Office to get it to work with Articulate.
