Update: Articulate Presenter ’09 now supports the On2 Codec. Update now to avoid this workaround.
Ever try to use Presenter Video created using the On2 VP6 codec and have problems with it displaying in Articulate Presenter?
How can you get On2VP6 Presenter video to display in Articulate Presenter?
- Insert your On2 VP6 FLV as you normally would insert Presenter Video
- Publish to your desired output
- Navigate to your output directory
- Open the “data” folder
- Open the “presentation.xml” file in notepad
- Find this chunk of XML:
- Modify the width and height value to match your desired width and height for the video
- Save the file
- View your output

Note: Currently Articulate Presenter 5 does not support FLVs created with the On2VP6 codec, that is why you have to use this workaround. The issue is that when AP5 came out the On2VP6 codec had not been released, and at that time, we couldn’t correctly determine the dimensions of the FLV.
Also, FLVs created with the On2VP6 codec will only display in Flash Player 8 and later.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
I had my first experience with the On2 codec issue on a project I recently finished and was so disappointed that Presenter didn’t support the VP6 codec. I had to double the data rate to get comparable quality using the Sorensen codec. Welcome news indeed. You rock!
Dave,
I’m importing the flv fine in the presenter window but my video looks much smaller than 320×240. Is there a setting I’m missing? I have a screen shot I can email, too, if that helps…
Thanks,
Bill
Hello Bill,
Articulate Presenter will scale down any video bigger than 233 pixels wide. I have another post on the blog about that if you want to check it out here:

A question for you. I am a new Articulate Presenter user and just testing everything out. I have created a presentation with a learning game at the end. One thing I noticed is that if you create Learning Games a/k/a Choices, that there is a strange background that you can’t change. Naturally, I would like to keep the same consistent template throughout. Is it possible to change the background for learning games?
Hi Stephanie,
Unfortunately with learning games you can’t change the background. What you could do though is build the choice question in Quizmaker, and that would give you total flexibility to customize the background..
